Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’
-Matthew 25:44-45
Lord?
When did we see you on the streets, crying out for justice? When did we call you lazy? When did we ignore what you were saying, or rationalize it, or excuse it? When did we sit by while you were being murdered?
When, Lord?
When did we lash out at your Facebook post, writing the perfectly timed, aptly researched comment just to feel better about ourselves?
When did we call you a racist? When did we call you a feminazi? When did we call you a libtard? When did we call you a Right Wing whack job?
When did we call you a slut? When did we call you an entitled bitch? When did we call you a pussy? When did we call you a drain on resources?
When did we shift uncomfortably in our seats, look around to make sure no one was listening, and whisper that we aren’t homophobic, but you do seem a little …you know … *wrist flip.*
When did we tell you that you were lying about how you’d been treated?
When did we see your pain and say it reminds us of how many blessings we have?
Lord, when did we say that you were crossing the border to steal our jobs, and tell you that there is a due process for all this and until you’ve gone through it, we can’t be too careful around you. You know how it is these days. When would we have said such a thing?
When did we out our comfort ahead of your equality?
When did we laugh in your face when you spoke your mind to the reporters?
When did we rejoice at your personal failings?
When, Lord?
Lord, when did we crane our necks to stare down your dress? When did we tell you you’d be better off serving in the nursery? When did we tell you that you can’t be a Christian and say those words, or vote for that person, or listen to that music, or watch that show, or be so rich, or be so poor, or, or, or, or, or …
When did we tweet about your suffering to ease our own guilt, Lord?
When?
When?
When did we do all this?

/ May 5, 2015honestly, my heart has been so heavy lately from all that I have read and seen. It felt overwhelming. Thank you for this! It’s the most inspiring and truthful thing I’ve seen all week.

/ May 6, 2015You do know this passage is referring to the judgment of gentiles after the Tribulation. The judgment is based on their treatment of the Jews during the Tribulation. When the world hates the Jews, any kind treatment of them will be cause for punishment. This whole article, while having its merits, is based on a faulty interpretation of the passage. Currently our purpose as Christians is to share the Gospel with a dying world, not try to make it better.

/ May 6, 2015Well, a Gospel that does not make the world better doesn’t sound like much of a Gospel to me, but thanks for sharing.
